Prophet (PBUH) would do dhikr after every obligatory prayer. The three things which He would recite or perform a dhikr of were, tasbeeh (glory of Allah), tahmeed (Praising Allah), takbeer (extol His greatness) after the prayers. Although, learning of Quran and its recitation after prayers is also a dhikr, but Prophet (PBUH) would often do the aforementioned dhikr. The hadith related to this act of Prophet (PBUH) is narrated by Abdullah bin ‘Amir. He said:

“I saw Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) counting them on (the fingers of) his right hand.” (Tirmidhee)

There are different hadiths related to the count of tasbeehat that Prophet (PBUH) would do after the prayers. According to some hadiths, it was Subhanallah, and al-hamdulillah 33 time one after the another and by the end it was Allahu Akabar 34 times.  Thus a Muslim must also revive this Sunah of Prophet (PBUH) and must do dhikr on his or her fingers after every obligatory prayer.

As salamu `alaykum. I do not know about the Hanafis, but I recall reading a hadith that the Companions, after the prayer, would recite la ilaha ill Allah three times, aloud, extending the fatta of the first and last lam. Unfortunately, I cannot remember where I found it :)
